In addition to the Core Curriculum, students will select 4 Option Choices to study. At least two of these must be from the list of EBacc subjects below. Students can choose more than two of these should they wish.
Making the right choices will increase your chances of success. In making your choices you should consider the following:
Which subjects do you enjoy?
Which subjects are you good at?
Which subjects or qualifications will you need for your future career?
You should be careful not to be influenced by the following points:
Choosing a subject because you like the teacher.
Choosing a subject because your friends are doing it.
Choosing a subject you have not studied before just because it is new.
The only combination of courses that is not allowed is the Cambridge National Sport Science qualification alongside GCSE PE. There is a lot of information on this website and you will have the opportunity to talk to subject specialists at the Key Stage 4 Curriculum and Options Evening on the 6th March. Take this opportunity to find out more about all the courses before you make your choices.
This year, all students will submit their option choices online. Students will be able to register and select their options online between 7th and 14th March. Prior to the online submission window opening you will be sent a step-by-step guide of how to register, log in and select your chosen options.
When submitting option choices online, all students are required to select a reserve option. This is because it is not always possible for every student’s choices to be fitted into the timetable and if a course does not attract sufficient numbers of students then we may decide not to run the course. However, in such an event, we will work with students and families to resolve any issue.
