You go to the Tech.Bar during open hours. Tech.Bar is located in the Library Learning Commons across from the TV studio. It's open before school from 8:15-8:30, Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri and from 9:15-9:30 on Wed and during lunch every day until the clean-up bell.
Yes. That has to be signed every year. It is now signed electronically when parents complete the students information each year on InfoSnap.
Chargers are in high demand. It's best to charge your device overnight and leave your charger at home. This removes the chance of someone asking to borrow it and then forgetting to return it.
We do not track chargers, so if a student loses one, through their own fault or someone walked off with it, then the student is still responsible for the charger and will need to pay the $25 for it. They come to the Tech.Bar for a replacement and the $25 will be charged to their account.
Yes, a $20 Technology Insurance fee is added to all student accounts at the beginning of the year. That insurance covers the 1st incident of accidental damage. I've seen cracked screens, broken plastics, and liquid spills come through the Tech.Bar and it's always a relief when a student has the insurance paid and ready to cover the problem.
Another great benefit of having paid the technology insurance paid is that you are eligible for a loaner (if we have some in stock) while your device is being repaired.
The deadline to pay the Technology Insurance this year is October 1 of each school year. Students who register after school has started have 30 days from registration to pay for the insurance.
If you choose not to pay for the technology insurance, you are taking responsibility for all damages to the Chromebook or other school issued device. A cracked screen or damaged system board is $150 repair. A cracked plastic is $75. It's much more cost effective to pay the insurance than the damage. Once the damage has been reported to us, you will not be able to pay the insurance to cover that damage, even if it is before October 1.
You bring it to the Tech.Bar. If it's something we can fix right there, we will! If not, then we'll take it up for a work order. If your technology insurance is paid and there are loaners available, we will issue you a loaner while your device is in for repair.
Go to password.richland2.org and log in with your 8-digit ID and your current password. You can then choose your new password and enter it twice. Your password must have 8 characters with at least 1 letter, 1 number, and 1 special character.
Make sure you are restarting your Chromebook daily. This applies any updates. If you are behind on updates that can cause your CB to run slow. Look in the toolbar near the wifi icon to see if there is an up arrow. If there is, that means your CB needs to restart to update. That should make things a lot better.
If that doesn't help, bring it by the Tech.Bar. There are a couple of things we can check to make it run better.
We're so glad you asked! Yes, there is an easy fix for this. 1st, remove your user by clicking on the little triangle in the upper right corner of your login box. 2nd. restart your CB. 3rd, log back in. It should be fixed! This issue came with a particular update (55) and once you're past it, you should be fine.
It depends on the situation. If you have a CB in for repair, we can issue you a loaner if we have some in stock. We have a very limited supply of loaners, so you may be put on the loaner waiting list. When one is available, you will be emailed and you will have two days to come pick up the loaner before we move on to the next student on the list. Check your email!
We do not loan Chromebooks (or chargers) on a daily basis or to any student who just forgot theirs that day.
Certainly! Connect to rsd2-secure and use your 8-digit ID and normal password to login. You will also need to open a browser on your phone and go to ca.richland2.org to get the certificate. If you need help installing the certificate, come by the Tech.Bar or email Mrs. Coulter at lcoulter@richland2.org for instructions on how to install the certificate.
Yes. You must turn in a signed Personal Electronic Device form to be listed as BYOD. The $20 technology insurance fee will be removed from your account after October 1.
