Chromebook Roll-Out

The Basics

Roll-out refers to the beginning of the school year when we issue Chromebooks to students at or before the start of school. It generally works like this:

  • All students have a signed Responsible Use Procedures (RUP) on file each year
    • This is signed electronically when parents update the student information through InfoSnap
  • Students have scheduled time slots to come through the line.
  • Returned students who opted out of summer take-home will have the same device issued to them
  • New to Westwood students and incoming freshmen will have a device issued to them and will maintain that same device throughout their Redhawk career.
  • Roll-out will be scheduled as early as possible to make sure students have the tools they need to be ready for class.

After the beginning-of-the-year roll-in period is over, students must come to the Tech.Bar during open hours to have a CB issued to them.

We're Looking for Volunteers!

If you're a parent or an alum and are willing to help out with Chromebook roll-out, we'd love to have you!

Freshmen CB and new student roll-out is tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 23.

Please email Laura Coulter at lcoulter@richland2.org if you are available to help us with this lovely and crazy dance.

Picking up Chromebooks During School

Friday, August 23 - Freshmen and New Redhawk Chromebook Roll-out

Students should have a signed RUP on record to receive a Chromebook that day. These are signed through InfoSnap.

Students with Personal Electronic Devices

Students are allowed to bring their own personal electronic devices to campus, but they must have a signed Personal Electronic Device form on file each year.

Important Information for Parents

The Responsible Use Policy (RUP) is signed electronically when you update your child's registration information through Parent Portal. Unfortunately, there is a slight gap in update time between the registration and when we get access to the updated information in PowerSchool. If you updated your child's registration in August, it may not show up in our system at the time of Chromebook distribution. Please bear with us and sign a paper RUP form so that your child can have access to his or her technology tools. Thanks for understanding.

Need to Talk to Someone?

During scheduled distribution days, we are likely unable to answer phone calls or emails. The fastest way to get a response is to email me at lcoulter@richland2.org because I have my computer with me. I will answer as soon as I can, but it may be the day after a distribution day. Phone messages make take me longer to get to because I have to actually be in my office to get those and that's a rare thing that first couple of weeks!
