Here's what you need to know:
Go to the New to Westwood Tech page for more details.
We are a 1:1 school with Chromebooks, so here’s what you need to know to get moving as quickly as possible.
When you register, you will receive a small RUP Verification Slip from the Counseling office. Save this!
The RUP was signed on InfoSnap when you registered and will need to be signed again each year.
The Tech.Bar is a help desk where students come to get technical help, whether it’s devices or logins.
The Tech.Bar is located in the Learning Commons Library near the doors that are nearest the cafeteria. It’s open before school (8:15-8:30 all but Wed, 9:15-9:30) and during lunch (until first bell).
Students are responsible for coming to the Tech.Bar for technical issues or to get a Chromebook issued to you. You will not be called down to the Tech.Bar or called out during class.
Bring your RUP Verification Slip to the Tech.Bar during open hours to have a device issued to you, and a case, if you are new to the district..
Please plan on coming to the Tech.Bar your 2nd day of school if you are new to the district. We will not be able to access your account on the 1st day, so to save you a trip, plan on picking up on the 2nd day. Students transferring from another R2 school can come same day. Remember to bring your case!
At WHS, you have the option to bring your own device. You will still need the RUP Verification Slip but you will also need to complete a Personal Device form. These are located at the Tech.Bar and you can pick those up any time of day.
Personal devices also require a certificate to be installed in order to work properly on our network. You’ll need to bring your device to the Tech.Bar to get that certificate installed.
In Richland2, every student has a Google account that includes Gmail, Google Drive, and lots of other neat accounts. Your email address is made up of your ID number @richland2.org. Your ID number is generally a 5-digit number, but if you’ve been in the district before several years ago, then it will be 12-digits.
Your email address requires 8 digits, so if your ID number is 5 digits long, add 3 zeros to the beginning of it. For example, if your ID number is 12345, then your 8-digit ID is 00012345. That makes your email address 00012345@richland2.org. (If your ID number is 12 digits, drop the 7900 at the front)
All new to R2 students need to get their password reset at the Tech.Bar. Teachers can help reset most student passwords, but not students new to the district. One important note is that we cannot change your password on the same day you register. It takes 24 hours to put you in that system.
To login to a desktop or laptop computer, use your 8-digit ID and password. To login to a Chromebook, use your email address and your password.
