What is JCLC?
The JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge is an educational training environment that only last five days. The encampment we attend is located at Fort Jackson South Carolina. The camp take place in June The diverse curriculum for JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge camp consists of a physical fitness test, leadership reaction course, high-ropes course, rappelling on a 50 foot tower, construction of a one rope bridge, obstacle confidence course, land navigation, rafting, water survival training and intramural athletics. Although all of the previously mentioned training events are fun, the most dynamic educational experience each student will benefit from is the leadership opportunities offered during this encampment. Our group, also referred as a company, will be comprised of several different high schools from South Carolina. The primary goal is to allow every student to experience at least one leadership position while at the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge camp.
Eligibility
Cadet must be in good academic/discipline standing with the School and the Blazer Battalion
Cadet must willingly participate in PT
Cadet must not possess health condition that jeopardizes their safety and well being
Cadet must volunteer
Cadet must have completed LET 1 Curriculum
Cadet must not graduate prior to start of JCLC
JCLC Objectives
Provide Cadets an opportunity to practice leadership skills in an unfamiliar environment.
Allow Cadets a chance to participate in citizenship building exercises.
Give Cadets the opportunity to experience living and interacting with their peers from other units in a military setting.
Instruct leadership-type skills to Cadets in a hands-on military type environment.
Provide an opportunity to participate in adventure training not normally available to Cadets.
