This class incorporates calculations and theories of chemistry to create a basic understanding of how matter works. Students will study atomic and molecular properties of matter to predict interactions between substances in the earth’s systems. This includes looking at reactions and properties of matter impacting climate change. Students should have successfully learned skills in Math 1 to use in this course.

This class incorporates calculations and theories of chemistry to create a more in-depth understanding of chemistry to give students a foundation to use in future chemistry classes. Students will study atomic and molecular properties of matter to predict interactions between substances in earth’s systems. This includes looking at reactions and properties of matter impacting climate change, ocean acidification, and the transfer of energy throughout earth. Students should have successfully learned skills in Math 1 to use in this course.

Energy and Worlds of the Future HP is the third year of the Integrated Science in the Environmental Science sequence of courses. It takes an in-depth look at alternative energy sources that can be used to power our world today and in the future and examines the costs associated with them, Students enrolled in the honors course will be required to do additional projects, one of which is submitted to the distric science fair.

Students cultivate their understanding of chemistry through inquiry-based lab investigations as they explore the four Big Ideas: scale, proportion, and quantity; structure and properties of substances; transformations; and energy.

AP Physics C Mechanics is an Advanced Placement science course that studies Newtonian mechanics. Methods of calculus are used wherever appropriate in formulating physical principles and in applying them to physical problems. It is equivalent to an introductory college course in mechanics for physics or engineering majors. The topics covered by this course include Kinematics, Newton's laws of motion, work, energy, power, linear momentum, circular momentum, rotation, oscillations and gravitation.

AP Environmental Science is a yearlong course designed to provide students a way to understand the interdisciplinary nature of science and its practical application to understanding the environment. This course begins with an introduction to the process of science and investigations in areas such as earth systems and resources, the living world, population dynamics, land and water use, energy resources and consumption, pollution, and global changes.

AP Computer Science Principles offers a multidisciplinary approach to teaching the underlying principles of computation. The course will introduce students to the creative aspects of programming, abstractions, algorithms, large data sets, the Internet, cybersecurity concerns, and computing impacts. AP Computer Science Principles also gives students the opportunity to use current technologies to create computational artifacts for both self-expression and problem solving. Together, these aspects of the course make up a rigorous and rich curriculum that aims to broaden participation in computer science.
