My idea for our school pump track is to have 3 different sections in the room that we have. There should be a skills track on the far left of the track for people and students to learn how to ride and handle the bike. There should be a Full pump track for the confident and learner riders in the middle to gain pumping skills and high-speed handling skills as you get faster learning on the track. Then on the right side of the track, there should be a jump line for the more confident riders, a smaller jump line on and a bigger jump line with maybe a mulch jump at the end to safely learn tricks if you are really confident. These 3 sections allow for new riders to learn how to handle and ride the bike with also the capability for more experienced riders to practise their pump track riding and their tricks on the jumps line.
Skill track will allow students and people in the community to gain confidence on a bike and they will be able to learn how to control a bike on different objects and obstacles that are one the track. This is the perfect type of track for new bike riders to gain confidence.
The pump track is a track that allows all riders to ride with different confidence levels. It teaches you how to pump control the bike at high speeds over rollers and in tight berms. It's perfect for people in the community who ride bikes because the closest proper pump track is in Cambridge which means it is really hard to get out there if you're a younger rider without a licence.
The jumps line will be for the more confident riders in school and out in the community. It will allow people to get better at jumping if they haven't jumped a bike before and it allows confident riders to practise tricks over them too. There is no other jumps line in our community making riders that live around here really restricted to where they can ride.
There is currently no shade or drinking fountains for people to use at the bike track. A shade and a drinking fountain, and a repair stand would fit perfectly for people who take their kids and on hot days so that they can sit somewhere and have things to use.
One of the benefits of a tarmac pump track is that you don't have to go out every month and reshape and fix all the rollers and berms because they are not dirt. The tarmac lasts longer without needing maintenance because the tarmac holds its shape for longer and it lasts longer in natural weather events that happen as rain and wind.
How to QR codes
QR codes on different features might be smart around the bike track. If you're at a feature like the pump track and you're not too sure how to pump then you can scan the QR code and it will bring you to a how-to video giving tips and tricks on how to ride the feature and also give tips for improving skills.
Features
I've asked people around school about cool features that could be added and I've got feedback about adding a wall ride onto the pump track or the jumps line. A wall ride will add a feature that riders can step out of their comfort zone and try something new by challenging themselves to see how high they can get or to jump off the end.
