Vocal Master Class Submission

Vocal Master Class Application

All submissions are due no later than the end of the day on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
No late submissions will be considered.

If you would like to be considered for the vocal master class, you must submit the following:

1.) PDF copy of sheet music for your song selection.

2.) Audio/video recording of your singing:

  • No longer than 2 minutes in length.

    • If your selection is longer than 2 minutes, record and submit the section you feel best highlights your talent.

    • Don't be afraid of recording something you need to improve - the goal of a master class is for its participants to grow and improve.

  • You can use an audio track or live piano, whichever is most accessible. If you will be coordinating with a school accompanist/teacher, make sure to plan well in advance.

  • Share settings of the video must be set to "Anyone with the link can view."

  • On the video recording, introduce yourself with the following information:

      • First and Last name.

      • Your grade at R-H.

      • The title of the piece you are singing, the composer, and show it’s from (musical theatre selections and classical music are both welcome – if you prefer to sing lieder, melodie or other art song genres, this is welcome too!)

      • Approximately one-two sentence introduction describing the scenario/character in the moment, if your selection is from a show.

EXAMPLE INTRO: "Hi! My name is Sarah Best. I’m a senior at R-H. Today I’ll be singing “Til There Was You” from The Music Man, by Meredith Willson. In this scene, I’m Marian Paroo, and I am singing to my love, Harold Hill, and explaining that I never really knew what love was until I met him."

Reminders for submissions:

  • Head-to-toe camera angle is best. We want to see you and hear you!

  • Wear something that makes you feel confident in yourself.

  • Use a background that is relatively uncluttered (maybe not a background that includes your unmade bed or laundry).
