Elmhurst buys water from the DuPage Water commission and then pumps it to 3 underground water storage tanks and 3 water towers then its disbursed via watermains to the residents, commercial, industrial, and governmental end users were it is metered and consumed. Total capacity is 15MGD storage. We currently are at approximately 25.5% unbilled water. DuPage Water Commission buys water from the City of Chicago which is sourced from Lake Michigan and treated at the Jardin Water Purification Plant just north and adjacent to Navy Pier. Typical water bill (9,000 gallons/month) in Elmhurst is one of the highest in all of DuPage county at $197.50 (billed every 2 months at $395) with only Itasca being higher at $261.90 and the lowest being Glen Ellyn at $94.62
