Middle School Art Syllabus and Rubric

Middle School Art Syllabus

Mrs. Ruppert

Objective:

Students will add to their knowledge of the Elements of Art and the Principals of Design through vocabulary, examples, demonstrations, and hands on projects. Students will learn and apply proper techniques in order to correctly use a variety of media. Students will explore other cultures, art through the ages, as well as, works from other artists. Most importantly, students will be encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to express different ideas and emotions.

Materials:

All necessary materials are provided through the art room. Occasionally, students will be asked to contribute a specific item, usually a recycled item from home. Students are always welcome to research and/or bring in their own resources to supplement class projects. Students are asked to use all materials and supplies responsibly and to respect their environment and those around them.

Assignments:

Students will have a Long Term Assignment that is due the last week before the term ends. The composition is to be done outside of their scheduled art class. Details will be posted.

PowerSchool & My RSPS

Grades and assignments will be updated to My RSPS weekly. Each class is worth up to 10 pts.

Missing Work:

Students are responsible for any missing work. Middle school students have art just once a trimester and lessons are strategically mapped out to make the most of our time for their portfolios and the Cultural Arts Night art collections. I offer Art Recess time on Mondays and Wednesdays for anyone seeking help, making up work or who just wants a little more art time in his or her life. Please don’t hesitate to notify me if addition sessions are needed.
