CO-CURRICULAR MUSIC PROGRAMME

The Remuera Intermediate School Co-curricular Music Programme is available to students who want to extend their current instrumental skills or gain new ones. Students attend weekly practices during the school day through a combination of internal and external tutoring on a user pays basis. 

The following is a list of groups offered depending on your child's interest.

• Advanced String Orchestra

• Rock Band Lessons

• DJ Club

Itinerant Programmes provided in collaboration with The Lewis Eady Music School:

• Guitar Lessons

• Drum/Rhythm Classes

• Violin & Viola Lessons

• Keyboard Lessons

Regardless of the number of groups your child will join, all students involved must make a one-time payment of $50. This equipment levy will cover maintenance costs and the purchase of musical equipment. To enrol in these programmes for 2024. please fill in this form.

Student Expectations

Please remember the other commitments you have when planning your co-curricular music involvement making sure to stay within your bounds. If you are in a co-curricular group, you are expected to understand and accept the following principles:

1. Any performances take precedence over other rehearsals or sports practices

2. A clash of performances or sports games etc., needs to be negotiated with your conductor or music teacher in charge. 

Refrain from letting your group down by simply not turning up without explanation.

3. Arrive plenty of time to set up and warm up, ready to start at the designated start time.

4. Prepare and practise your music between rehearsals.

5. If you can not attend a rehearsal due to illness or another valid reason, you must inform your teacher in advance. Email is best.

6. Prepayment of $50.00 Annual Equipment Levy -  All students involved in the programme will be billed after auditions and sign-up.

7. Violin Hire - $75 for violin hire per annum

Audition Information

• Auditions may be required for certain music groups.

• We use an auditioning process to identify the musical level of your child, in order to put them in the correct level group. 

• All auditions will take place in the Music Room.

• Audition Dates are to be advised at the beginning of the year.
