We provide a wide range of opportunities in the RI Music Department for students of different musical levels to discover their potential, explore their interests and aim to achieve excellent results in their activities of choice.
The Music Department is well-resourced to encourage and support every student's musical journey. With the help of our Music Specialist Team, we provide an enriching education supporting the unique social, emotional and academic needs of emerging adolescents.
The Music Programme consists of two main parts:
Membership Expectations: Please bear in mind the other commitments you have when planning your co-curricular music involvement. Make sure you do not over-commit yourself.
If you are in a co-curricular group you are expected to understand and accept the following principles:
A performance takes precedence over any other rehearsal or sports practice.
A clash of performances or sports games etc. needs to be negotiated with your conductor or music teacher in charge. Do not let down your group by simply not turning up without explanation.
Arrive in plenty of time to set up and warm up ready to start at the designated start time. Do not arrive at rehearsal time.
Prepare and practise your music between rehearsals.
If you are unable to attend a rehearsal due to illness or another valid reason you must notify your teacher in charge in advance. The best way to contact the teacher is via email.
During the school year, all students involved in the Remuera Intermediate School Music Programme perform within the school and for the local community, with annual highlights being the International Assembly and the Music Night Showcase Concert.
There are several options to choose from if you wish for your child to be involved in Music at RI.
