Being involved in a Pop Band allows students to put themselves in a different setting and experiment with new things. They build a closer bond between themselves, help each other learn to play an instrument, have fun learning their favourite songs, have an opportunity to perform for a wide audience, and get professional advice on their instrumental techniques.
Pop Bands consist of up to 5 musicians, including a drummer, a bass player, an electric guitar player, a keyboard player, and a vocalist.
If a student is willing to be a part of a Pop Band but has no musical education, s/he can start on a bass. And as all students are required to do a rotation after each song they perform, every student has an opportunity to try to play every instrument in a band, depending on their confidence and ability levels.
Each Rock Band has one 30-minute lesson a week with a teacher.
IMPORTANT: This is a full-year commitment as students need to grow as a band and develop their performances as the year progresses.
Lessons take place during the school day and are organised and tutored by Mr Lewis McCallum This ensures students are committed for the whole year, as mentioned above.
Pop Bands are required to perform at the RI BandQuest at the end of each Term.
Successful Rock Bands will be chosen to take part in the BandQuest Competition and the Music Night Showcase.
The Cost of Tuition: The equipment Levy of $50 plus $400 per annum, non-refundable.
Venue: Music Practice Rooms.
Time: Lessons take place during the school day, TBA.
