I have been the facilitator of the CES Green Team since it started at Chester Elementary School. Please reach out if you have any ideas that could include our group.
The CES Green Team is open to students in third through sixth grade. This year, the Green Team will be offered during Academies. So, there will be two, six-week sessions that meet during school Academy times. One session meets in the fall and one in the winter.
Throughout the year, we are collecting old markers of any kind to recycle. Please send them in with your child to put in the boxes throughout the school.
We are also collecting gently used, kid-appropriate books for our CES Book Swap Library. This initiative keeps books out of the landfill and also keeps kids reading books new to them.
For the second year, the Green Team will also be participating in the PTO Holiday Craft Night. We will be there for the CES Book and Toy Swap just in time for the holidays.
The CES Green Team is always trying to find creative ways to use new things. If you have kid-appropriate items in your home that you wish to donate, please send them in with your child to place in the box in the hallway behind my classroom door. A list of needed items will be sent home but here are some ideas:
cereal boxes, chipboard popsicle sticks barettes, clips, jewelry
pipe cleaners clean plastic bottles/containers milk jug caps
cotton balls/pompoms felt or material scraps corks
buttons of all sizes and colors mismatched (clean) white socks soda can tabs
silver or white glitter metal bottle caps plastic bottle caps
clean egg cartons googly eyes colored tissue paper colored feathers
hot glue sticks clean K-Cups toilet paper/paper towel rolls
rolls of twine/yarn (partially used or full) CD/DVDs
