What is Read Alliance?
Read Alliance is an after-school program where high school students' mentor and teach 2nd graders how to read, providing personalized literacy support while offering the high schoolers paid work experience. This experience is ideal for teenagers and our youth RSD readers. Teens will be able to achieve work and work experience in an environment that is education based. Our Youth at Reading School District are able to enhance their literacy skills and grow a forming connection with our high-school interns.
What are the benefits?
Joining Read Alliance offers several key benefits for teens: they earn money, receive school credits, and play a significant role in helping younger students improve their reading skills, making a meaningful impact in their community. There is going to be 10 PAID intern workshops throughout the school year. These workshops will help students develop their skills of financial literacy, resume building, and even learn how to open a bank account. This experience also gives students some of their first work experiences and help the students develop a relationship with other RSD staff and their students. We believe there are even more key benefits to joining a paid work-experience, but it is up to you to believe in our project and join!
When does Read Alliance run?The schedule of Read Alliance is Tuesday through Thursday, 3:00pm-4:30pm. Students will have monthly workshops to attend on a Monday throughout the months of September through June.
