With the colder weather upon us, please make sure that your child is coming to school prepared to be outside. Students will be outside for recess unless the temperature at the school is below -20. Hats, mitts, warm coats and snow pants are all important to keeping your child(ren) warm!
If your child rides their bike to school, the bike must be securely locked on the bike racks in front of the school. Please ensure that your child’s lock is of good quality. The school cannot take responsibility for damaged or stolen bikes. Your child must wear a helmet.
Please do your best to ensure that your child(ren) arrive at school on time. Due to our school layout and COVID restrictions, we are required to have all of our doors locked to limit visitors. There is a doorbell to the right of the main door for entry, but when many kids are late, it takes a great deal of our office staff's time to continually let them in. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
Thank you to everyone who has recommended a book about a holiday they celebrate! With your help, we have made some great strides towards diversifying our holiday section. If you have a great book to recommend about a holiday, please let me know.
There are several students who have unpaid library fines from previous years. A statement would have been sent home if you have outstanding fines. Please note that your child(ren) will be unable to take out new books until these fines are paid. If you need more information about the title or amount, please let me know.
If your child(ren) have any overdue books, please return them as soon as possible. This will affect their ability to take more books out. If the books are lost, please have your child come and see Mrs. Rumohr.
Check the weather right in the Glendale parking lot! Visit our website at glendale.rdpsd.ab.com then click on the sun/cloud symbol. It will open up an up-to-date, right at Glendale, temperature!
Please be sure your child checks the lost and found often. You would be amazed how many items keep showing up!
Red Deer Public Schools is pleased to have adopted the Hour Zero School Emergency Program in all of our schools.
Students and staff are aware of our new protocols, but it is important for parents and guardians to be informed as well. As such, please take the time to review the following document from RDPSD.
Please do not park in the bus lane or reserved stalls (even if they are open at the time). Reserved spots are for staff members and when you park in these spots, you may be preventing an adult in our building from being there to greet your child. This includes all drop off and pick up times.
Please be aware that we do not have a drop off lane in the new section by the YMCA. With the cold weather, many parents have been stopping here to bring their child(ren) to the door and it is causing a safety issue for other drivers and students. Please be mindful that the safety of all children is our first concern and blocking the roadway endangers everyone. Thanks for your support with this matter.
It is very important for the school to have current contact information for each student. If you have moved, changed your phone numbers or need to change emergency contact information, please be sure to complete the RSVP form (all tabs) on your parent portal. If you have people other than yourself and/or the people listed as emergency contacts picking up your child, please let the school know.
Our updates are 75% complete! While this is fantastic, if you are one of the 25% who have not yet completed this information, please do so as soon as possible. This could result in us not having correct contact information or not have the proper emergency contacts on file. If we do not list someone as a parent/guardian or emergency contact, we are unable to release your child without direct authorization from you. This is for the safety of your child and family. Updates are now overdue.
If you require assistance with your parent portal account, please contact the office.
