The Golf Course
By Aleea, Mallee, and Rosalie
This is Mallee, Aleea, and Rosalie reporting live on PES News.
Rosalie: We are going to teach you about Proctor history.
Mallee: Did you know that there was a golf course in Proctor?
Aleea: I did know that but I bet a lot of people don’t. Why don’t we tell them about it.
Rosalie: The golf course was built and opened in 1901 and it was on 36 Oak Street.
Mallee: It was called the Proctor Golf Club.
Aleea: The people who played golf had to share the course with cows and horses.
Rosalie: Boy, I am glad we don’t have to share our golf courses with cows and horses now. They would probably get in the way or they might eat the golf balls.
Mallee: The course did not have any golf carts. The people had to walk. I wouldn’t want to walk because my legs would get tired.
Aleea: Some days there were over 70 people at the golf course.
Rosalie: The golf course shut down in the early 1900s.
Mallee: We hope that you learned a little bit more about Proctor’s history.
Aleea: This is Rosalie, Mallee, and Aleea signing off from PES News.
