Coach Charles Williams plays an integral role in the long time success of the Eagles basketball program. Coach Williams has seen multiple district championships and big house appearances with the Eagles basketball program. He is also a phenomenal math educator, being chosen Star teacher on multiple occasions. He is also the head track and field coach where he has won multiple state championship races. 

Under his leadership, Florence athletes have achieved multiple state championships, including:

• 2010 – MHSAA State 4A Men’s 100m Dash State Championship

• 2014 – MHSAA State 4A Men’s 1600m State Championship

• 2015 – MHSAA State 4A Men’s 4x400m Relay State Championship

• 2016 – MHSAA State 4A Women’s Discus Throw State Championship

• 2021 – MHSAA State 4A Women’s 4x100m Relay State Championship

Coach Williams has also led his teams to:

• 2014 & 2015 District 6-4A Men’s Track and Field Championships

• 2014 & 2015 Region 3-4A Men’s Track and Field Championships

His athletes currently hold 17 of 18 school records in men’s track and field and 15 of 18 school records in women’s track and field.

From 2001–2018, Coach Williams also served as Head Coach for boys’ and girls’ cross country at Florence High School. His teams captured the 2011–2014 District 6-4A Men’s Cross-Country Championships, and he coached Joshua Hester to a school-record 5K time of 17:20 in 2013.
