GoGuardian Parent is a tool that allows parents to view and monitor the usage of their child’s school-issued Chromebook. It is important to note that this only applies to their use of the internet on their school-issued Chromebook and will not allow you to monitor information on other devices they access.
Download the app: You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store directly from your device.
Once installed, open the app and enter the email address associated with your SchoolTool account. If you do not know this email address, contact helpdesk@rcsd.k12.ny.us or call 518-275-4349.
After entering your email address, verify your email address by accessing your email on the same device on which you are logging in and clicking the “Verify your email” button. If this does not work, you can also log in using the PIN provided in the email.
Review and accept the terms and conditions.
For more information, click to view the “Getting Started” guide on the GoGuardian Help site.
Now that you’re in, explore the different options available in the GoGuardian Parent app. Here are some features available.
Summary: An overview of your child’s browsing history, top-used sites and apps, and information about teacher interventions on your child’s Chromebook.
Activity: Information on all sites accessed by your child.
Filters: Block additional sites on your child’s Chromebook (Note: You may add to our filtering after school hours only. You may not remove any filters that we have in place. We do filter after school hours, but allow some things after school that we do not allow during school, such as games, streaming and social media.)
Time Limits: Set time limits and schedules to prevent your child from accessing the internet during certain periods of time.
