Workshop

A day as a Jewellery Designer

I would like the students to experience what it's like to be in my shoes for a day. For the workshop to be as realistic as possible, the students will be designing a ring for a 8ct Paraiba stone that my boss have recently purchased and have given to me to design. They will design the ring and make a clay prototype according to the requirements and aesthetic of my company and at the end I will show them what I have designed and how the final result of the ring looks like. Field: Jewellery Design

My name is Ellie and I graduated from RCHK in 2011. I am currently a jewellery designer at Forms Jewellery. I received my BA in jewellery design from Central Saint Martins back in 2015, and I have been working at Forms ever since. My day to day involves sketching out and realizing designs for the company. Making prototypes by hand carving wax models before it goes to the production line. I am also a gemologist, I did my Graduate Gemology Program at GIA a few years ago. Apart from jewellery design, I am also responsible for the gem quality control at Forms which means I would inspect gemstones, making sure they are of good quality and of natural origin before they go into production.
