By law, school districts have to filter student access to the Internet. Although the filters at RBUSD are sophisticated, no filtering system is perfect. The district does its best to balance the protection of students all ages with the freedom to research the Internet.
Teachers have less restrictive filtering than students. For example, many videos viewable by teachers cannot be seen by students. Before assigning or embedding a video for students to view, teachers need to test the video on a student Chromebook to see if it is viewable. If there is an appropriate video that is blocked, simply copy the URL and paste it into a help desk ticket to get it unblocked. Links to YouTube videos can be copied into SafeYouTube for ad free viewing and embedding.
