The first courthouse in 1810 was built by Ben Tappan's brother after he promised a courthouse if Ravenna was made the county seat.

SOME MAIN FACTS
Original offices : The Courthouse housed the Portage County Court of Common Pleas and its criminal and domestic relations divisions, as well as the Portage County Municipal Court.
Current tenants and what they do : Judge Pittman, Judge Doherty, Judge Fankhauser, Judge Roubic, Judge Giulitto, Judge Smith, Clerk of Courts - Jill Fankhauser.
