For students who have attained below Grade 1 in two or more of their Core subjects, English, Maths and Science we will be offering some additional support. Students will have one additional lesson each week in each of the core subjects. The purpose is to enable them to work in a small group and receive some additional help with their GCSEs.
As part of the option programme, Year 10 students have the opportunity to work towards an ASDAN Personal Development Qualification. The ASDAN Awards Programme provides students with a chance to develop a wide range of skills including use of maths, English, ICT and teamwork that will benefit them in the workplace and adult life. Students can choose to work on a range of modules including Communication, The Community, Sports and Leisure, Home Management, The Environment, Number Handling, Health and Survival, World of Work, Science and Technology, The Wider World, Expressive Arts, Beliefs and Values. They will build up a portfolio of work which will lead to certification. There is no exam or homework expectation for this subject. It is suitable for those who would like some additional support and feel they will struggle with a full GCSE timetable.
