Summer Assignments

Students are excepted to complete the following assignments during the summer.

  1. Join the 2020 -2021 Google Classroom. Class code: joh3tti . I may occasionally post announcements and information throughout the summer.
  2. Read and take notes on Chapters 10 (The Later Middle Ages) and Chapter 11 (The Italian Renaissance) in your textbook, Civilization in the West 7th ed. Be prepared for a open note reading quiz the first week of class.
  3. Learn a map. During the first week of class, students will be expected to pass a map quiz. Here is a list of locations that can be assessed. Included is link to a blank map that you can practice on.
  4. Create a list. Research and create a list of 10 historical events from 1990 to present-day that you believe are significant to European history. For each event, briefly summarize the historical event and provide why you think it is significant. Limit your responses to 6 to 8 sentences for each event. This will be collected on the first day.

THIS REQUIRES YOU TO GET A TEXTBOOK

ISSUED TO YOU BEFORE SUMMER VACATION!

Optional Enrichment

(Any bonus points offered the first quarter will most likely be based on these assignments)

  • Purchase (or borrow from the library) and read Morris Bishop's The Middle Ages. No written assignment is required to be completed during the summer. Students should arrive ready to take a test (bonus assignment) on the contents of the book the first week of class. Use this study guide created by AP Euro teacher Tom Richey to monitor your understanding of the text.
