As part of our Residential Program, we encourage family engagement with the program to coincide with the journey of their child. This may include the following, with dates shared with parents in preparation for their child's program:
An introductory information evening for students and families. Students enjoy an evening of icebreakers whilst the parents meet key staff and connect with the parent/carer community.
During the program parents are invited to a workshop led by Dr Arne Rubinstein from the Rites of Passage Institute. Arne begins the evening with a presentation highlighting the challenges of adolescence and identifying how parents need to work in partnership with their children upon return from the Residential Program.
Students and parents are provided with a 4-week re-integration program to work through that looks to foster greater connection and understanding.
Families are invited to 'The Honouring Ceremony' where they both welcome and honour their children and celebrate their 4-week journey. This is a very special occasion and provides an opportunity for parents to acknowledge and encourage the journey from child to young adult.
