Great consideration is given to managing risk while at Vision Valley together with activities that extend beyond Vision Valley. Students are thoroughly briefed, trained and supervised while involved in the outdoor program components. As student confidence and skills develop, they are encouraged to take on board more elements of leadership and planning with the support of trained staff.
Weather checks are regularly taken throughout each day of program with modifications made to re-schedule planned activities appropriate to the conditions to always ensure student safety.
Several precautions are taken to reduce the risk of fire hazard at Vision Valley and all fire procedures are regularly reviewed and practiced, together with monthly testing of all alarms. Great care is taken to maintain the grounds at Vision Valley together with managing undergrowth that might contribute to fire. There are several fire hydrants on site and our dam would be utilised for any emergency purposes. Arcadia Rural Fire Brigade is 2km from Vision Valley and on hand for any support required. Vision Valley also has a fleet of vehicles available in any emergency together with priority access to the local bus company if evacuation from the site is considered the best response.
