The staffing model of the Vision Valley Residential Program is designed to support the safety and needs of students, and meet with the intended outcomes of the program. The success of the Vision Valley Residential Program involves the dedication and commitment of multiple teams including overnight supervisors and on-call staff, teaching and learning, outdoor education, catering, cleaning, maintenance and logistics and management.
In addition, the Head of Vision Valley, Head of Upper School, Deputy Head of Upper School, Year 9 Heads of Year, and the Deputy Principal of Students and their teams also provide significant support for students and provide a comprehensive overlay of resources. This layered support may include the College Psychologists and Chaplains.
All staff working on the Vision Valley Residential Program are fully informed about the expectations the College has for the care of students and they ensure that the policies, processes and procedures which apply to the school and the Vision Valley campus are consciously and effectively applied at all times.
The Deputy Head of Campus - Vision Valley and Experiential Learning Leaders provide 24/7 wellbeing and residential care for each student. In addition, each lodge residential staff provide a consistent level of support and organisation in the afternoons, evening, overnight and at the start of each day to ensure students are able to experience the best of the program.
Program staff consist of Experiential Learning Leaders (teachers), Outdoor Educators and Expedition Leaders. This team deliver modules across all components of the program that includes onsite activities and offsite expeditions.
All staff will undertake training to cover the processes, policies and procedures necessary for them to be able to fulfil their duty of care to students. Training will be organised for those areas mandated under Child Protection, Work Health and Safety and First Aid/CPR at a minimum.
Vision Valley management provide appropriate opportunities for staff to undergo relevant further training in areas such as CPR, Bronze Medallion (aquatic rescue skills), First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid training, Provide Pain Management, Emergency Response and Risk Management.
