INTERMEDIATE CULINARY ARTS year 10-12 UC/CSU
Intermediate Culinary Arts is an introduction to basic culinary and job skills. The students are trained to be able to work in any food establishment in the hospitality industry. They obtain a Riverside County Food Handlers Card which allows them to seek employment in the food industry anywhere in Riverside county. They also create a job portfolio so they can prepare for the work field when they are ready to look for a job. They learn how to create a cover letter, resume, and are to obtain a letter of recommendation. They are given a mock job interview by the instructor at the end of the course to be tested on there new skills.
ADVANCED CULINARY ARTS year 11-12 UC/CSU
Advanced Culinary Arts focuses on more complex kitchen skills and management skills required for advancement in the hospitality industry. The course begins with training in the bakery. The students learn everything from bread to full on decorating multi-layers cakes. They are then put through a butchery session for a few weeks where they learn the anatomy of animals and how to cut it up for sale and consumption.
The advanced class also dives into management skills in the hospitality industry. They learn how to lead by example and how to provide excellent customer service to everyone. How to develop management skills behind the scenes: counting money, overlooking all reports made to the facility, and even the hiring process.
INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES
AP COMP. SCIENCE PRINCIPLES year 9-12 UC/CSU-H
AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) is a full-year, rigorous, entry-level course recognized and approved by the College Board that introduces high school students to the foundations of modern computing. The course covers a broad range of foundational topics such as programming, algorithms, the Internet, big data, digital privacy and security, and the societal impacts of computing.Computing affects almost all aspects of modern life and all students deserve access to a computing education that prepares them to pursue the wide array of intellectual and career opportunities that computing has made possible.This course is not a tour of current events and technologies. Rather, it seeks to provide students with a “future proof” foundation in computing principles so that they are adequately prepared with both the knowledge and skills to live and meaningfully participate in our increasingly digital society, economy, and culture. This course has been UC A-G approved area D as an additional science (third year and beyond).
IT CYBERSECURITY FUNDAMENTALS year 9-12 UC/CSU
This IT Cybersecurity Fundamentals course lays a foundation and introduces the basics in the IT world, and prepares students for a career in network administration with a focus on cybersecurity. Students will be able to demonstrate how software and applications are made for a system as well as how the hardware of a computer and a network are built. Students will also understand the basics of networks, the internet, and the infrastructure behind them. Along the way, students will examine how programming languages work and how to secure data on all types of hardware and software. This course prepares students to take the industry recognized CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ (ITF+ FC0-U61) exam.
ADVANCED CYBERSECURITY year 10-12 UC/CSU
The Advanced Cybersecurity course builds on the technical skills and knowledge students acquired in IT Cybersecurity Fundamentals, and prepares students for post-secondary information technology majors and for careers in network administration and information technology support services with a focus on cybersecurity. With over a hundred and fifty lesson topics and a plethora of activities, Cybersecurity provides the rigor and relevance expected for top quality cybersecurity education. Not only does it introduce the breadth of cybersecurity concepts and skills, it also prepares students to verify their technical know-how through the CompTIA Security+ (SY0-601) certification.
