October 5th - October 9th

Hello B1 families,

OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE

Math: In topic E, students apply what they learned in previous topics to more complex problems, including those with larger factors. Through exploration, students become more flexible with using the properties of multiplication. They represent facts in ways that make sense to them, building fluency with multiplication and division. We will complete lessons 20-23 this week.

Multiplication facts should be practiced every night for homework. Most students will be taking the x2 test this week.

Reader's Workshop: We will continue working in our Benchmark Unit 2 books, called Ways Characters Shape Stories. We will focus on answering the essential question: How do our actions influence our lives? Students will also work on skills such as creating a summary, analyzing nonliteral language, and identifying character traits.

Spelling: Long i

Grammar: coordinating conjunctions to form compound sentences

Writer's Workshop: This week, students will write an acrostic poem about October. Students will be using adjectives that remind them of fall when writing their poem.
