Wit & Wisdom is our newly adopted district curriculum (May 2024). This is a comprehensive K–8 ELA curriculum crafted to build knowledge and skills needed to be successful readers, exceptional writers, and effective communicators. Students explore literacy, informational and fine arts genres to create layers of knowledge that they will build on across the lessons. Lessons integrate knowledge from science, history, geography, and other topics while developing reading skills, writing skills and expanding vocabulary.
The curriculum is engaging with complex, grade-level books, from the classics to newer works of literature. There are four modules of study, one per quarter. Students will maintain a vocabulary, knowledge and student response journal via the Google classroom. The majority of writing assignments refer to the core texts. At the end of each module, students will utilize skills learned to produce a comprehensive writing assignment.
