Introducing Purdue Global NOW

In the coming weeks we will be launching our new employee-facing, internal newsletter Purdue Global News of the Week (Purdue Global NOW.) This new newsletter will replace the existing Monday Minute. Basic Needs Badging

If you've been part of the presentations the Student Success team has been conducting on student success at Purdue Global, there's been an emphasis on the term "Best-in-Class" to highlight our commitment to excellence. We're proud leaders in recognizing prior learning, offering comprehensive career advancement, and delivering strong curricula. Our next goal is to excel in ushering in comprehensive basic-needs support, recognizing and meeting the diverse needs of adult learners throughout their journey.

Given our unique context, we have the privilege of shaping what it means to be "Best-in-Class." One key theme is the need for an institutional-wide commitment and culture surrounding basic needs support. In our situation, every member of the Purdue Global community will play a crucial role in elevating us to this level of excellence. To achieve this, we are rolling out a new micro-credentialing and professional development experience focusing on Best-In-Class Basic Needs Support.

This program is more than just badges – it's a journey of personal and professional development, a commitment to creating a community that prioritizes the well-being of our adult learners. By the end of this journey, we will not only be equipped with the skills to navigate non-academic challenges but also become beacons of support and understanding, fostering a truly inclusive and supportive environment for our diverse student body.

What can you do to support this project:

Online Safety is Everything to Me and My Family

Dan Vukobratovich isn’t pursuing his master’s degree in cybersecurity simply because he likes tech.

It’s because protecting loved ones is something he takes very seriously. In fact, he would tell you his drive to protect his people is what informs every single thing he does.

He’s always been that way. When he first began to consider career paths as a young adult, he dreamed of a job in medicine. But as a dad of young kids at the time, he could tell right away it wasn’t going to work for his family. So he trained as a volunteer EMT and firefighter. In that role, he started to see how getting paid to work triage was not off the table. Read more.
