Dr. Pablo Montes is a Queer, first-generation scholar and an Assistant Professor in the Curriculum Studies Program at Texas Christian University. They are a proud descendant of the Chichimeca Guamares and P’urépecha people from the valley of Huatzindeo. Dr. Montes spent six years in Austin, Texas, where they received their Ph.D. in the Cultural Studies in Education program at the University of Texas at Austin. Their research interests lie at the intersection of queer settler colonialism, indigeneity, and Land education.

A panel discussion on LGBTQ+ research on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising (June 28, 1969), a landmark moment in the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement. One year after, the first pride march was organized to commemorate the events of Stonewall and to ensure people would not forget the need for urgency when it comes to securing the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness of LGBTQ+ people. Panelists discussed how Stonewall and LGBTQ+ history look through the lens of various collections.
