Lawyer: A Lawyer represents clients in legal matters or court proceedings, provides legal advice and draws up legal documents. Works on criminal or civil cases, and either specializes in one area or practices broadly across all areas of law.
Judicial Law Clerks: Assist judges in court or by conducting research or preparing legal documents.
Administrative Law Judges, Adjudicators, and Hearing Officers: Conduct hearings to recommend or make decisions on claims concerning government programs or other government-related matters. Determine liability, sanctions, or penalties, or recommend the acceptance or rejection of claims or settlements.
Arbitrators, Mediators, and Conciliators: Facilitate negotiation and conflict resolution through dialogue. Resolve conflicts outside of the court system by mutual consent of parties involved.

Attorney: If you earn your Juris Doctor online from Purdue Global Law School, you are academically eligible to sit for the California or — with an approved petition — Indiana bar exams. Upon receipt of a California or Indiana law license, graduates may also apply to sit for the state bar in North Carolina and Wisconsin. Once you successfully pass a state’s bar exam, you can obtain a law license to practice in that state.
