GRADUATE NURSING
Master of Science in Nursing
Program Description
The Master of Science in Nursing has two areas of concentration; Medical Surgical Nursing and Nursing Service Administration. Each concentration builds on expertise, experience and skills of the professional nurse. Core content for both concentrations includes nursing theories, nursing research, critical decision making, ethical leadership, field experience, and administrative problem solving and health policy. Students can choose between two tracks of study: the program with thesis, which has a total of 36 units and the non-thesis track, which has a total of 39 units.
The Master of Science in Nursing Major in Medical-Surgical Nursing prepares nurses to be leaders who are clinical experts in the field of the medical-surgical nursing. The curriculum consists of 48 units on role development and clinical skills needed to carry out such role in this particular field of nursing. Emphasis is placed on analysis and application of the nursing theoretical frameworks to be used in this major area of concentration.
The Master of Science in Nursing Major in Nursing Service Administration prepares nurses for advanced practice roles in various levels of management. The program provides a unique combination of advanced nursing and management skills that are required to manage today’s innovative health care delivery systems.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the program, students will have to achieve the following outcomes:
1. Practice professional nursing based on advanced theoretical and functional constructs of medical-surgical nursing and nursing service administration.
2. Synthesize current knowledge gained from other disciplines with both nursing theory and research to support advance professional nursing practice in the field of medical-surgical nursing and nursing service administration.
3. Conduct scientific investigation to expand the knowledge to support the nursing profession
4. Design roles of advanced nursing practice responsive to changing environmental forces
5. Demonstrate commitment to the advancement of professional nursing and to the professional growth of self and peers.
GRADUATE SCIENCE

A holistic and integrative curriculum, the Master of Science in Environmental Management incorporates contemporary thinking on the relationship between nature and human society and how the relationship is influenced by such factors as local, national, and global policies and structures, mode of production and others. It aims to produce environmental researchers, educators and managers.
