17 August 2026 – The Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), hosted the special seminar “Beating the Heat: Tales of the Saharan Silver Ants and Butterfly Wings,” featuring Prof. Naomi Pierce from Harvard University and Assoc. Prof. Nanfang Yu from Columbia University.

Prof. Dr. Anchana Prathep, Dean of the Faculty of Science, PSU, delivered the welcome remarks. During the seminar, the speakers explored how butterflies and Saharan silver ants use sophisticated nanostructures and behavioral strategies to regulate temperature under intense sunlight.

Bringing together evolutionary biology, animal behavior, thermal physics, and nanophotonics, the event offered participants a valuable interdisciplinary learning experience and further strengthened the faculty's international academic connections.
