Your student can go through and find a lesson they would like to do at home.
RADIAL BALANCE/SYMMETRY
This class students will look at the art principle of balance. They will look at different examples and learn about radial balance.
After looking at some different examples, students will be able to create their own radial design.
UGLY SWEATERS
This class students will listen to the story Lester's Dreadful Sweaters, by K.G. Campbell
After listening to the story we will look at a two different artists who incorporate sweaters/tops and fun designs and patterns into their artwork and then design our own ugly/crazy/beautiful sweater!
TEXTURE
This class students will look at different examples of texture. They will learn about actual texture vs. Implied texture and see some examples of both.
Then students will choose a subject and give their image implied texture!
IF THE DINOSAURS CAME BACK
This class we will listen to the read aloud, If The Dinosaurs Came Back by Bernard Most.
We will talk about line and create our own contour line cityscapes. Then students will use shapes to create their own dinosaurs and cut them out from colored paper to add to our cities!
SHOE DESIGN
This class students will look at several contemporary shoe design artists including an artist who creates basketball shoes with fun designs, to an artist who uses her cultural influences and beads to create high fashion designed shoes.
After looking at some examples, students will have the opportunity to create their own shoe design.
TURKEY TROUBLE
This class students will listen to the story Turkey Trouble, by Wendi Silvano.
After listening to the story students will have the chance to disguise their turkey however they like!

SURPRISE DRAWINGS
This week we will make surprise stretch drawings.
Students will learn how to fold their paper to create a hidden area. They will be able to come up with and design their own surprise drawing.
STREET ART INSPIRED NAMES
DAY 2
This class we will continue working on our street art inspired names. We will look at two different street art artists and how they convey messages of positivity and joy through their artwork.
Students will finish their design from day one and begin to add color and a background.

This class we will start out street art inspired names. We will look at the difference between street art and graffiti and look at some examples.
Students will make their own name artwork inspired by street artists. We will begin by turning our names into shapes and forms and creating a layout for the design.
MATISSE PAPER PAINTINGS
DAY 2
This week we will be finishing up our Matisse inspired artworks. Students will learn a bit more about the artist and then discuss how the art principle contrast can be used in art.
Students will complete their artwork by adding more detailed and smaller shapes to our backgrounds we started last week.
MATISSE PAPER PAINTINGS
DAY 1
This week we will be taking a look at artist Henri Matisse and his artwork and read the story "Henri's Scissors," by Jeanette Winter. We will look at how he created art throughout his life, even after going through a life changing event that left him paralyzed.
We will look at the differences between geometric and organic shapes and how Matisse used shapes in his artwork. Students will create their own shapes using colored paper and create their own Matisse shape artwork. Next week we will continue laying more shapes and continue learning about Matisse.
A BEAUTIFUL OOPS!
This week we will read the story A Beautiful Oops! We will look at some ways that oops or mistakes can be made into something beautiful!
Check out the presentation to listen to the story, watch Mrs. Bello transform some oops into her own masterpieces, and then make your own!
This week, we will be designing our sketchbook folder page and gluing it to the front of our art folder.
This is YOUR art folder, so feel free to design it however you want as long as it is school appropriate!
Use any supplies you would like: markers, crayons, pencils, and create your masterpiece!
We may not finish designing our entire page in one class and that is OK! You'll be able to come back and continue adding to your folder page during lessons if you finish your work for that class.
