Your student can go through and find a lesson they would like to do at home.
CATCHING SNOWFLAKES
This class we will listen to the story There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow. Then students will look at warm and cool colors and play a game guessing which colors are which.
Students will do a guided drawing to create their own character from a different perspective catching snowflakes and incorporate warm and cool colors in different areas.
UGLY SWEATERS
This class students will listen to the story Lester's Dreadful Sweaters, by K.G. Campbell
After listening to the story we will look at a two different artists who incorporate sweaters/tops and fun designs and patterns into their artwork and then design our own ugly/crazy/beautiful sweater!
IF THE DINOSAURS CAME BACK
This class we will listen to the read aloud, If The Dinosaurs Came Back by Bernard Most.
We will talk about line and create our own contour line cityscapes. Then students will use shapes to create their own dinosaurs and cut them out from colored paper to add to our cities!
PAPER SCULPTURES
This class students will listen to the story Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beaty
After listening to the story students will get to be their own architects and create structures using 3D paper techniques
PICASSO FACES
This class we will learn about the artist Pablo Picasso and the style of Cubism. We will listen to a short read aloud and then look at some examples of Picasso's portraits.
Students will create their own silly Picasso portraits by randomly choosing areas on their paper to draw their facial features and any other details they want to add!

TURKEY TROUBLE
This class students will listen to the story Turkey Trouble, by Wendi Silvano.
After listening to the story students will have the chance to disguise their turkey however they like!

FALL LEAVES
This week we will learn about leaves and watch a short clip about why they change colors in the fall. We will also look at the difference between warm and cool colors.
Students will then create their own leaf artwork by drawing their own or even tracing leaves from outside onto their paper. They will color their leaf art using warm and cool colors to show where their different leaf shapes overlap
SHAPE ROBOTS!
DAY 2
This week we will talk about the art principle called contrast and how artists use it in their artwork. Students will get to add contrasting elements and more detailed shapes to their shape monsters to create a more interesting robot.
After they finish their robot, they can add a face and create a background scene!
SHAPE ROBOTS!
This week we will talk about different shapes and read the story "Robots, Robots Everywhere." After reading the story students will sketch some ideas for their shape robots and choose their favorite. Then students can choose from their colored construction paper to cut out the shapes to create their robots body shapes.
Next week we will add more shape details and a background.
CREATE YOUR OWN COOKIE
This week we will read the story If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, with the help of a special friend of Mrs. Bello!

What kind of cookie will you come up with?!
This week, we will be designing our sketchbook folder page and gluing it to the front of our art folder.
This is YOUR art folder, so feel free to design it however you want as long as it is school appropriate!
Use any supplies you would like: markers, crayons, pencils, and create your masterpiece!
We may not finish designing our entire page in one class and that is OK! You'll be able to come back and continue adding to your folder page during lessons if you finish your work for that class.
