In second grade, we have been learning about matter. We learned about solids, liquids, and gases, and then we started working on describing words (adjectives) that can tell us about different types of matter. We then got into groups and got a secret word (such as green, liquid, or bumpy) and worked with our group to collect items that would illustrate that word well enough that other students could guess it correctly.
After that, we have spend a few class periods getting used to the MAP test, which is taken a few times a year. Everyone was promised a printout of the Slowdown Sloth, who shows up in the test if you click answers to quickly, as long as they don't see him at all during the test.
When we come back from our holiday break, we will be putting our knowledge of matter to good use and building our own dream bed, after reading the book My Bed: Enchanting Ways to Fall Asleep Around the World.
