This page is called "GT/Extension Groups" because my small groups are comprised of students who have been identified as Gifted in either math or reading as well as students who show that they need the extensions (as group sizes allow).
3rd grade:
In reading, we are reading a short story by Cynthia Rylant, called "Stray." We will discuss it and then write about it after we've finished reading.
In math, we’ve been working on learning to multiply single digit x multi digit numbers, as well as multiplying by multiples of 10.
4th grade:
In reading, we are reading a book called "A Single Shard," about Tree Ear and Crane Man, who lived during the 12th century in Korea.
In math, we are working on Math Olympiad questions until the end of the year. We learned a variety of different strategies, and now we are practicing applying them to different problems.
5th grade:
In reading, students are doing a research project on an invention.
In math, we are working on some basic algebra.
