8th Grade Marching Night Rehearsal - Tuesday, Oct. 6 5:45-7:15
The 8th grade band rehearses to perform a pregame show with the high school marching band during a HS varsity football game. Rehearsal will be from 5:45-7:15 in the HS football stadium.
8th Grade Marching Night - Friday, Oct.9
Meet at 5:45 P.M. in high school football stadium. Dismissed after half time (approx. 8:30). Admission to the football game for parents/guests is $5 cash only
St. Louis All-Suburban Honor Band/Jazz Auditions - Monday, Oct.19
Optional for all 7th and 8th grade band students. Students from across the St. Louis area who wish to participate audition for a judge on 2 pieces of music, as well as 6 scales. Students who are accepted into the honor band then attend special evening rehearsals and perform a concert on Sunday, January 10th at 3:30. This group contains the best middle school musicians in the St. Louis area.
6th Grade Premiere Concert - Thursday, Oct. 22 7:00 PM
This is the grand debut of the 6th grade band! Parents will also have the opportunity to participate in this event! Parents will work with their band student to learn the basics of playing the instrument.
Elementary School Tour - Friday, Dec. 4
REQUIRED for 8th grade band students. They will take a road trip to the High School during school hours to play for 4th and 5th grade students.
Winter Concert - Thursday, Dec. 10_ 7:00 PM
Required for all Heights band students

7th Grade Contest Clinic/Preview - Tuesday, Feb. 23 6:00 PM
REQUIRED for 7th grade band members. Heights Gymnasium. The 7th grade band will have a rehearsal for Large Ensemble Contest at 6:00 and then give a preview concert at 7:00.
7th Grade After School Rehearsals - Feb. 18 and Feb. 25
7th Grade Students will also have 2 mandatory after school rehearsals from 3:10-4:10 to prepare for Large Ensemble Contest. Students can get picked up or take the activity bus home.

Large Ensemble Festival - Tuesday, March 2
REQUIRED for 7th grade band members The event happens during the school day, so it will require a permission slip.
Parade of Bands Concert - Monday, March 8, 7:00 PM
REQUIRED for all 6th and 8th graders
High School Gymnasium
An annual, district-wide concert featuring all 6th and 8th grade band members, as well
as the high school band. The students will attend a rehearsal at the high school during
the school day in order to prepare for the concert.
Heights Solo and Ensemble Festival - Thursday, April 8
Optional for 6th and 7th grade students
Students prepare a solo or small ensemble piece and perform it in front of a judge on the day of the festival. The judge provides a written comment sheet for the students, as well as a rating of 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. and gives a mini lesson after the performance. All 6th and 7th graders will prepare a piece of music for festival as a unit of study. Students who attend this actual event will receive extra credit for their project.
8th Grade Solo and Ensemble Festival - Saturday, April 10
Holman Middle School - Optional for 8th grade students.
This is an optional opportunity open to 8th grade students. This event is similar to the Heights Solo and Ensemble Festival, but involves students from across the St. Louis area. Students prepare a solo and/or small ensemble piece and perform it in front of a judge. The judge provides a written comment sheet for the students, as well as a rating of 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

The culmination of our middle school band experience - we typically take an overnight trip to Chicago and receive a clinic from a college professor, take an architecture riverboat cruise, eat deep dish pizza, visit Navy Pier, along with other adventures!
