The 8th grade students will perform a pre-game show with the high school marching band at a high school football game - this is the rehearsal to prepare for the performance. Located at the High School stadium. Percussionists and tuba players need to arrive early to be fitted for equipment.
The 8th grade band will perform a pre-game show with the high school marching band at a high school football game. Then we play with the high school band in the stands during 1st and 2nd quarter and watch the HS halftime show together. Students must be picked up or checked out by a parent after halftime.
This is the grand debut of the 6th grade band! Parents, you will also have the opportunity to participate in this event! Parents will work with their band student to learn the basics of playing the instrument.
Heights Gymnasium at 7:00
This opportunity is open to all 7th and 8th grade band students. It is NOT required. Students from across the St. Louis area who wish to participate are audition on 2 pieces of music, as well as six scales. Students who are accepted into the honor band then attend special evening rehearsals once a week and perform a concert on Sunday, January 11th at 3:30. The students have the chance to play in a group comprised of the best middle school musicians in the St. Louis area.
REQUIRED for 8th grade band students. They will take a road trip to the High School to play for the elementary students.

The first concert of the year that features all of our grade level bands, as well as the combined Heights & Remington Jazz Band!

Required for any 7th or 8th grader who auditions and is selected for the All-Suburban Honor Band.
Lindbergh High School
REQUIRED for 7th grade band members.
7th grade band will have 2 combined rehearsals to prepare for Large Ensemble Contest. Rehearsals go from 3:10-4:10. Students can be picked up by a parent or ride the Activities Bus home.

Heights Gymnasium. 7th grade band will have a rehearsal for Large Ensemble Contest with a clinician and give a preview concert. Parents are welcome for all of it.

This festival is like the Solo and Ensemble Festival, only it is for the full band. The event happens during the school day, so it will require a permission slip.
REQUIRED for all 6th and 8th graders
High School Gymnasium
An annual, district-wide concert featuring all 6th and 8th grade band members, as well as the high school band. The students will attend a rehearsal at the high school during the school day in order to prepare for the concert.
Holman Middle School
This is an optional opportunity open to all middle school band students. Students prepare a solo or small ensemble piece and perform it in front of a judge on the day of the festival. The judge provides a written comment sheet for the students, as well as a rating of 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

The culmination of our middle school band experience - we typically take an overnight trip to Chicago and receive a clinic from a college professor, take an architecture riverboat cruise, eat deep dish pizza, visit Navy Pier, along with other adventures!
In addition to these events, 7th grade band members may have two or three after school/evening rehearsals during the course of the school year. These rehearsals are required and will count towards points for the band grade. The dates and times will be announced well before the rehearsals so that your family may plan accordingly.
