i-Ready Instructional Materials Now Available for Every NYC DOE Teacher and Student
All DOE teachers now have free access to i-Ready instructional materials. Teachers will need to follow the step-by-step instructions in the NYC Teacher Quick Start Guide for students to begin using i-Ready Online Instruction. Visit http://i-ready.com/NYC for NYC-specific support or register here for an “Introduction to i-Ready Online Instruction” session. This session will provide an overview of how educators can support grade-level learning with i-Ready resources. Teachers can also visit the TeachHub to access i-Ready.
DOE and Core Curriculum Resources for Remote Learning
The DOE-developed lesson plans and student resources to support Remote Learning in K-12 in each content area are available for all schools on TeachHub. Organized by grade level, content is aligned to NYS standards and NYC subject-specific scope and sequences, including core curriculum programs Amplify Science, enVision Math 2.0, and Passport to Social Studies. All schools will have access to all core curriculum programs if they want to utilize the program resources on Teach Hub. In addition, resources for multilingual learners and students with disabilities are also available. Teachers can use, adapt, and modify these lessons and resources to build daily plans that provide continuity and coherence for teaching and learning. New lessons and resources will be provided each week.
Translation and Interpretation Resources Available to Support Family Outreach
Translation and interpretation resources continue to be available for all DOE staff to communicate with non-English speaking families. Please share the information below with all school staff to ensure non-English speaking families are receiving your school’s communications and are not missing out on any crucial resources. The Translation & Interpretation (T&I) Unit and DOE-contracted vendors are doing their best to maintain levels of service, as staff have transitioned to working remotely. Here are updates on the language services that are available:
Over-the-Phone Interpretation Services: Free over-the-phone interpretation services are available 24/7 in 350+ languages, for all school staff to communicate with families who speak languages other than English. This service should not be shared with families. For questions, email Interpretations@schools.nyc.gov. Feedback on services can be included at tinyurl.com/OPIFeedback.
On-Site Interpretation Services: The on-site interpretation DOE vendor has transitioned to provide interpretation services via virtual platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.). To request virtual interpretation services, contact Geneva Worldwide at DOE@Genevaworldwide.com, using an updated Interpretation Request Form.
Written Translation Services: Translated written COVID-19 letters, in all DOE-supported languages, are posted on the employee-facing InfoHub. Additional information is available under the Coronavirus Communications InfoHub page and the parent-facing webpage. For any additional written translation requests, please use the T&I Unit’s Translation Request Form. For questions, email Translations@schools.nyc.gov.
For questions regarding language-access supports and resources, contact your Field Language Access Coordinator (FLAC), or the Translation & Interpretation Unit at LACoordinators@schools.nyc.gov. Please note that the Translation & Interpretation Unit’s main phone line is currently not being answered, as staff work remotely. Any questions should be sent via email.
