"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it"
George Santayana
Current Unit: Pre-Civil War Era
I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at John Brown University in Siloam Springs Arkansas in 2000. I have been teaching social studies at Kellar Middle School since 2001. In 2016, I earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education. History and social studies were my favorite topics growing up. I not only want to teach children about historical events, I also want them to know how they relate to and affect their lives today. I believe learning from history is very important to making our lives and society better. Outside of teaching, I love to spend time with my wife, travel, and continue to study history. I also follow my favorite sport's teams: the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Blackhawks. I have many historical artifacts that I love to bring into my classroom.
I love teaching at Kellar Middle School and I like to call it my home away from home. I believe in the students in Posen-Robbins School District 143.5. The 2021-2022 school year will be my 21st year of teaching at Kellar Middle School. I believe all students can be successful! I have been proud to see many of my former students become successful. Some are even working in Posen-Robbins School District 143.5 now!

All students are capable of success, but it takes the parents and teachers to work together for this to be possible.
While studying US History, we must look at the successes of our country and celebrate them. But at the same time, we must look at our country's mistakes to learn from them to help us grow as a nation and as individuals.
I believe in using a variety of learning activities and educational strategies to fit the learning needs of all students.
