Diversity, EQuity & Inclusion

Jefferson County Communities That Care is dedicated to maintaining a diverse coalition that includes members of communities’ subject to discrimination or who, historically, do not hold power in our community. We use a collective impact approach that includes power-sharing with community members and youth, addressing ongoing inequities in our community and the positive youth development framework.

JCPCTC coalition is committed to utilizing the Communities That Cares 5-phases framework in combination with CDC’s Drug Free Communities Strategic Prevention Framework, including utilizing on-going assessment, strategic planning and evaluation in decision making. The Board will create and adopt a strategic plan, the Coalition action plan(s), that will guide coalition decisions.

Additionally, the board uses the following to guide decision making:

  • Data driven and evidence-based decision making.

  • Power-sharing and shared leadership with diverse community members and, specifically, youth, including providing accommodations such as payment, transportation, technological resources and meeting schedules.

  • A positive youth development and social development approach to all work with youth.

  • Racial justice and anti-racism, as specified in the June 2020 resolution by the Jefferson County Board of Health, to include:

      • Assess internal policies to ensure racial and ethnic equity;

      • Develop policy platforms which address systemic racism and injustices;

      • Actively engage people and communities of color affected by disadvantage and poverty to alleviate harmful conditions in which people live, work and age, and;

      • Enhance data collection and analyses that produce a justice-informed community health needs assessment and community health improvement plan.

The above statements are included in the coalition's bylaws.

Our Goals:

As demonstrated by our Diversity and Equity survey for all coalition members, by January 2022, the Jeffco CTC coalition members will be equal to or exceed community demographics related to SES, racial/ethnic populations, and LGBTQIA+ in order to serve and include these communities.
