Birds Eye View

I wanted to tell you about a brand new project I'm working on with Birds Eye View that I thought some of your members might want to be interested in - RECLAIM THE FRAME - THE INFLUENCER PROJECT.

Birds Eye View celebrate their 15th year of flight this year, and strongly believe that together (women, men, gender neutrals) we can build a bigger network that can make a difference to the cultural and commercial value of films by women.

Supported by a BFI Audience Fund Award, the RECLAIM THE FRAME - THE INFLUENCER PROJECT will:

Spotlight 4 new specialised films directed and/or written by women

- in 5 UK cities including London

- over 6 months from April 2018

In each city, we are establishing a network of Influencers who will advocate and champion the films over the course of the programme.

If you love film and want an equal view of the world, this is an amazing opportunity to:

  • See some great films
  • Hear brilliant filmmakers, actors and experts speak
  • Be part of the film’s campaign
  • Join a movement
  • Expand your personal network by connecting to other influencers in your location
  • Support your local independent cinema and supporting independent film in your community
  • Get free tickets, discount codes and film-goodies

All films will be getting a proper theatrical release, will be intersectional, international fine examples of the female gaze curated by Birds Eye View.

Would it be possible for you to share information with your members about the project please? You can sign up to become and Influencer on the Birds Eye View website here: http://bit.ly/ReclaimTheFrame

The first London screenings are now confirmed - our first film is REVENGE directed by Coralie Fargeat - Nothing will prepare you for this bold and bloody revenge film from French newcomer Coralie Fargeat – who demonstrates that the female gaze comes in all ways. Jen (fearlessly embodied by Matilda Lutz, Rings) is enjoying a supposed romantic getaway with her wealthy boyfriend, which is suddenly disrupted when his sleazy friends arrive for an unannounced hunting trip. Tension mounts in the house until the situation abruptly — and viciously — intensifies; culminating in a shocking act that leaves Jen left for dead. Unfortunately for her assailants, Jen survives and re-emerges with a relentless, wrathful intent: revenge. A white-knuckle tale of transgression and transformation, Revenge gloriously blurs the lines of vengeance and survival while simultaneously delivering a ferocious dissection of gender and genre.
