The Proctor Pond is essential to the campus ecosystem and the broader Merrimack river watershed. However, after the construction of the Farrell Field, people are concerned that the chemicals from the field can leak into the pond, thus harming the pond's ecosystem. So this study/uncontrolled experiment is created to study whether the pond's ecosystem is healthy. Is there any chemical that leaks from the field into the pond?
This is a picture I took last year around the same time at Proctor pond. Pretty picture! Leaves are falling off. Some stayed, turning golden. Chill day but not cold enough for the pond to freeze. The study is always done during the fall term, october to ealirly November.
This is a picture of all the sites.
We are site 3, so this is a picture of my site. It is the beach site.Â
