Course Outline
Theme 1 : My personal world
Theme 2 : Lifestyle and wellbeing
Theme 3 : My neighbourhood
Theme 4 : Media and technology
Theme 5 : Studying and my future
Theme 6 : Travel and tourism
The assessment objectives reflect real-life language use, where skills are used interchangeably.
The subject content being assessed will be built around vocabulary, grammar and phonics.

New specification with the first exams taking place in 2026.
AO1 Understand and respond to spoken language in speaking and in writing - 35%
AO2 Understand and respond to written language in speaking and in writing - 45%
AO3 Demonstrate knowledge and accurate application of the grammar and vocabulary prescribed in the specification - 20%
Exam will include listening, reading, speaking, writing - including a dictation, read-aloud of a passage (focus on phonics) and a translation.
Homework and independent learning
Homework is set weekly on Language Nut and includes vocabulary learning, exam skills, translation and grammar activities. Regular vocabulary testing based on homework is used to support memorisation and retrieval.
