Science GCSE
Science: Up to three GCSEs
Science offers an opportunity to investigate, not only the world, but the universe around us. This includes everything from the very large to the very small. Problem solving, developing an analytical approach and utilising evidence, are all key skills which are essential in both science and everyday life. Science is a progressive subject and it provides an opportunity to be at the forefront of the latest developments of the things that impact tomorrow’s world. The new curriculum allows students to explore the subject in greater depth and gain a better understanding of the impact of Science on everyday life.
AQA Combined Science - Trilogy X 2 GCSEs
Double Science is taken by most students in the cohort and they will gain two separate GCSEs. This pathway includes a combination of topics from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. All students will start on this pathway, exploring the foundations of each discipline, which will allow them to study Science post 16.
AQA Separate Science - Biology, Chemistry, Physics X 3 GCSEs
This pathway is aimed at students displaying an aptitude in the subject and is ideal for those considering further study in Science, or related subjects post 16. Students are taught additional content in each topic to expand on their understanding and knowledge. Students will gain three separate GCSE qualifications in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Typically students are identified in Year 10 and will be taught the additional content required to gain a Triple Science award.
