We have been learning all about seaside past and present, features and locations. Recently, we took an exciting trip to Filey! The day was packed with geography in action as they identified coastal features and enjoyed playing in the sand. The children also did a great job interviewing visitors on the promenade, politely asking them about the purpose of their visit. We will be using this data back in the classroom to create block diagrams. Of course, we couldn't leave the seaside without finishing the day with a delicious ice cream!
DT Making Chairs!
In our latest project, we became engineers and designed chairs made entirely out of paper for our teddy bear friends! To ensure our chairs were structurally sound, we spent time exploring and practicing different ways to roll and fold the paper to make it stronger. After experimenting with various techniques, we put our designs to the ultimate test by seeing if they could safely support the weight of Little Lamb.
Skipping Festival!
Skipping Festival!
We had a great day at the Skipping Festival! Our talented skippers took home some incredible certificates across multiple events:
Gold certificate: Single bounce, Side Swing and 'Keep the Pot Boiling'
Silver certificate: 'Hop and Swap' and 'Run Jump Out'
Bronze certificate: Side Straddle
All of the children gave it their all, showcasing determination, teamwork, and skill. Watching their hard work pay off to win the festival was the highlight of the day. Huge congratulations to our Year 2 champions!
