We recently took part in a STEM Learning Lego Workshop. It was a day filled with creativity and technical precision, bringing ideas to life. The children were taught to use algorithm, mechanics and trial and error to build a motorised, symmetrical figure. They used maths, scientific and computing skills to succeed in the tricky challenges. The workshop introduced the fundamentals of computational thinking. To make their creations move, the children had to think like programmers, following logical sequences and debugging their builds when gears didn't quite turn as expected. We were so impressed by the resilience and enthusiasm shown by all the children.
Making Cakes
Our Year 2 bakers have had a fantastic day making delicious cakes! The children put their mathematical skills to the test, carefully weighing out ingredients to ensure the perfect consistency using grams. Eggs were successfully cracked and the children worked hard to mix the ingredients into the butter. Following the plans they had created, year 2 used a range of toppings to bring their monster face designs to life. I'm sure they tasted as good as they looked!
