History
Our Year 2 historians had an unforgettable, immersive experience last week during our visit to Temple Newsam for The Great Fire of London workshop. The children turned into historical detectives, exploring the nooks and crannies of the huge house to hunt for potential fire hazards and investigate how a blaze might have started. The excitement continued as we brought 1666 to life through drama, with some of our children stepping into the shoes of famous figures!
We saw fire hooks, used leather buckets and held water squirts to really understand what it was like in 1666! It was a wonderful day of active learning that truly brought our learning to life.

Science
We have been working with different mateirals to test their properties. Here, the children are having fun testing which materials are waterproof!
We have also experiemented with torches to find out what materials are transparent, translucent or opaque.
Literature Focus Week
During the final week of Spring 1, we focussed 'Lost Words' - a book which shows beautiful art and poetry about nature words that have been removed from the dictionary. We worked hard to raise awareness of the lost words by creating and sharing our own poems, as well as creating magpies in pencil and pastel.
